Dr. Foster went to Gloster
In a pouring rain
Stepped in a puddle
Up to his middle
And never went there again.
I thought of this nursery rhyme today as I went out to make a house call in the rain. Most physicians no longer make house calls. After the experience of Dr. Foster, who can blame them?
However, in Kunming, house calls are a necessity. Over the past few weeks, I have made house calls, restaurant calls, dormitory calls, and even hotel room calls.
Recently, a group of adopting parents in town had some rather sick children. While I don’t prefer hotel calls, these were most enjoyable. How exciting to see new parents in the process of redeeming these little girls!
If you look “redeem” up in the dictionary, you read the following definitions: 1. to buy back. 2. to get back, to recover as by paying a fee.
That is what theses parents are actively doing. They are buying back these discarded yet precious little ones. What a beautiful process. Thank you to all of you who have participated in this process of redemption.
Reminds me of another beautiful redemption. I Peter 1:18-21
